It's all about the Laser G!!!

Ah, technology....Thank heavens!  I spent my afternoon getting rid of wrinkles!  Not really...but I did spend it taking actions towards decreasing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, uneven skin tone and texture, etc.

The Laser Genesis procedure utilizes non-invasive laser technology to safely, discretely and effectively treat fine-line wrinkles, diffuse and excessive redness and help manage large pores, uneven skin texture, and scars. You can expect to see subtle yet consistent results after each treatment, without unwanted side effects such as bruising or excessive skin irritation. Treatments can be performed in a relaxed, comfortable manner without the use of topical anesthetics or gel.

It doesn't hurt, it doesn't take much time and it isn't very expensive. Well worth it for those of us in our 30's who are starting to see some signs of aging and just aren't ready to deal.  It is basically boosting collagen in the dermis.  Collagen is what we lose as we age, which is why things start to sag and wrinkle.  Laser Genesis will basically help take years off--in a very subtle way. ;-)

Don't ever expect miracles--our skin is going to age no matter what we do--we age.  It is a good thing.  Aging gracefully is a better thing. ;-)  Laser G will not completely get rid of your wrinkles, but it will make your skin look younger, plumper and healthier.  Who doesn't want that?!?  Oh...and definitely do a series--it takes about 3 sessions before you start really seeing results.  If you can do 6 in a row (1 time per week), you will see the best results.

Try it, people!

BlOW, the New York Blow Dry Bar

I went to NYC back in March, but I have to tell you about this great place I visited. First let me say, I have always had long, curly, excruciatingly thick, black hair. It has been a constant source of pain and pleasure for me. I am constantly looking for salons to blow my hair out straight (I have totally given up on doing it myself), no matter where I am. Even in Spain. I'm sure there are many women who feel my pain.

This is how I discovered BLOW. I know, perhaps not the best name...but BLOW is an affordable, cute, get it done kind of hair salon. You can walk in, get your hair blown out, and leave in a matter of 45 minutes. They are located both on the Upper East and Downtown. Check them out when you are in need. My "straight but with movement" blow-out lasted my entire 4 day trip--even with the NYC weather. www.blowny.com

I can't promise that the salon chairs were the highest quality, or that the stylist was necessarily the best I've ever had...but it was good, and it lasted, and isn't that all we are looking for in a blow-out? Now they just need to open in Brooklyn.

The first of many...

This blog is more of an experiment--I am a self-proclaimed computer illiterate. I have fought tooth and nail to NOT get involved in the marketing, branding, self-promoting through the internet and all of the youtubes, myspaces, facebooks, etc. Although I partake, I am terrified of going any further. In all honesty, I don't even know if I will be able to find my own blog once I log out of this thing, and I'm certainly finding it difficult to make comments on other friends' blogs...BUT, I'm growing up!! It is time to face the facts!! I can't run anymore..I can only give in. This is my attempt...we will see how it goes. I was never very good at "journaling".

I am in the business of skin! Currently I work at a Medi-spa called Kate Somerville Skin Health Experts. Our clinic is on Melrose Place in Los Angeles, nestled between the John Frieda Salon and some beautiful boutique bungalows that are currently sitting empty thanks to our lovely landlords that control all of Los Angeles, putting stores out of business on a regular basis. That could be another entire blog--the ethics of rental prices, not just in an economic down-turn.

Originally, I thought I would just review different spas and salons that I frequent in my travels and also here at home. I am going to broaden things a bit--I will talk about everything--from new products to dermatologists. Medi-spas to my favorite colorists. My friend Jessica recently blogged that she wished she could find a great stylist anywhere that was affordable. Well my friend...perhaps this blog will begin to help you out....although you may have to come out to LA more often. ;-)
